Timothy J. Bish
Tim is an attorney in the firm and is based in its Cranberry office. He counsels and represents both public and private clients in municipal, land use, and real estate matters. Tim serves as solicitor to several municipalities, municipal authority, and zoning hearing boards. He has represented municipalities in establishing proactive land use techniques and regulations, and in establishing and implementing economic development initiatives, such as tax increment financing, neighborhood improvement, and historical districts, LERTA and other tax abatement programs. Of particular note, Tim has represented municipalities in land use, economic development, and construction issues related to regional malls and large-scale commercial developments.
Tim earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in political science and criminal justice from Gettysburg College, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. He earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1998. During law school, Tim clerked for the Honorable James R. McGregor of the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
Tim is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Butler County Bar Association and Allegheny County Bar Association, where he is a past chairman of the Association’s Municipal and School Solicitors Section. He is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Tim regularly speaks and has written materials on numerous municipal and land use law issues for the benefit of the bar and various public and private organizations.
In addition to practicing law, Tim is a member and volunteer leader at North Way Christian Community’s Wexford campus. He currently serves on the board of directors of Lionshare Leadership Group, a non-profit corporation based in Franklin, Tennessee that undertakes Christian disciple-making initiatives. He is the former chair and vice-chair of the North Fayette Township Planning Commission and he has previously served on the board of directors for Lutheran SeniorLife, Lutherlyn, and the Local Government Academy.
